How to play Fynal
Every day you get three questions nobody knows the exact answer to, such as how much a blue whale weighs. You estimate a number using just your head and a calculator. Each question scores 0 to 100 points depending on how far off you are: an exact guess is 100, twice too high or too low about 70, ten times off 0. New questions arrive every midnight.
Step by step
- Open the daily challenge. The questions change at midnight Central European time.
- Break the question into smaller pieces you can estimate. A calculator and notes are allowed, looking the answer up online is not.
- Enter your final guess. Once you send it, you cannot change it.
- See the right answer, an explanation with the math, and how other players guessed.
- After three questions you have your score for the day out of 300. You can send it to friends.
How points work
Points depend on the ratio between your guess and the answer, not the difference. Being twice off is the same mistake up or down. The formula is 100 × (1 − |log₁₀(guess ÷ answer)|), rounded and at least 0.
| Exact | 100 points |
|---|---|
| A quarter too high | 90 points |
| 2× off | 70 points |
| 5× off | 30 points |
| 10× off or more | 0 points |
